Celebrate Jamaican Culture at the Palm Beach Jamaica Independence Festival

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. — This weekend, the vibrant spirit of Jamaica will come alive in Lake Worth Beach as the Palm Beach Jamaica Independence Festival takes over John Prince Park. On Saturday, August 2, from noon to 10 p.m., families and friends are invited to join in a day filled with music, food, and cultural pride, celebrating Jamaica’s 63rd year of independence.

A Musical Extravaganza

Get ready to groove! The festival will feature an impressive lineup of reggae and dancehall artists. Headlining the event are Da’Ville, known for his smooth R&B-Reggae fusion, and dancehall legend Wayne Wonder. The iconic band Inner Circle, famous for the hit “Bad Boys,” will also take the stage. Expect high-energy performances from The Silver Birds Orchestra, Chambah, and Brother Gary. For those who appreciate the spoken word, Amazyah the Great will share powerful poetry, while DJ Scorpion spins classic Jamaican festival tunes.

Spotlight on Culture

One of the festival’s highlights is the Miss Palm Beach Cultural Pageant, where six cultural ambassadors will compete for the title of “Cultural Queen.” Contestants will showcase their talents in swimwear, traditional dress, and interviews, representing the rich diversity of cultures within the Caribbean community.

Culinary Delights and Friendly Competition

Food lovers will not want to miss the Celebrity Jerk Chicken Cook-Off, where two local personalities will battle it out for the title of jerk chicken champion. Attendees will have the chance to taste and judge the dishes, making it a flavorful showdown. Additionally, a Dominoes Tournament will add a competitive edge, as players from five cities vie for the Palm Beach Independence Trophy and bragging rights.

Fun for All Ages

The festival is designed to be a family-friendly event, ensuring that everyone has something to enjoy. Kids and teens can participate in sack races, lime and spoon relays, and bun-eating contests. Bounce houses will provide hours of fun, while the Tech Tent invites young guests to explore “digital Jamaica” through music, games, and interactive displays.
