Celebrating Excellence: Jamaican Marketing Specialists Honored for Tourism Contributions in Antigua and Barbuda
In a heartwarming ceremony that celebrated the spirit of Caribbean tourism, two Jamaican marketing specialists have been recognized for their exceptional work in promoting the beautiful twin-island nation of Antigua and Barbuda. Noel Mignott and Alison Ross, both of whom have deep roots in the tourism industry, were awarded excellence awards by Charles Fernandez, the Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Investment.
Mignott, who previously served as the deputy director of tourism for the Jamaica Tourist Board and is now the president of the PM Marketing Group in New York, along with Ross, the former senior vice-president of the same group, have dedicated nearly two decades to showcasing Antigua and Barbuda as a premier travel destination. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, as they have played a pivotal role in the islands’ growth, transforming them into a luxurious getaway while preserving their authentic Caribbean charm.
During the award presentation, Minister Fernandez expressed his gratitude, stating, “Our success is driven by the passion, dedication, and hard work of these professionals who consistently go above and beyond in advocating for Antigua and Barbuda.” His words resonated with the audience, highlighting the importance of teamwork and commitment in the tourism sector.
After receiving the award, Mignott shared his sentiments with The Sunday Gleaner, saying, “It has been an honour, privilege, and joy for Alison, me, and the PM Group team to represent Antigua and Barbuda for nearly two decades. We’ve proudly witnessed the destination’s growth, emerging as a premier choice for luxury travellers while maintaining its authentic Caribbean charm.” His words reflect the pride and joy that comes with being part of such a vibrant industry.
The ceremony was not just about Mignott and Ross; it also brought together a host of distinguished travel partners who have contributed to the islands’ tourism success. Notable attendees included Colin James, Antigua and Barbuda’s director of tourism, and several prominent travel advisors like Brenda O’Neale, chair of the Antigua & Barbuda Travel Agent Advisory Board, and Lila Nicholas, chair of the Professional Travel Agents of North America National Advisory Board. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort required to elevate the islands on the global tourism stage.
Mignott and Ross are no strangers to success in the tourism industry. They were instrumental in the creation of Jamaica’s iconic ‘One Love’ advertising campaign in the 1990s, which not only boosted Jamaica’s tourism but also became a cultural phenomenon. Their experience and innovative marketing strategies have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the Caribbean tourism landscape.
As the islands of Antigua and Barbuda continue to thrive, the contributions of dedicated professionals like Mignott and Ross remind us of the power of passion and commitment in promoting our beloved Caribbean destinations. With their leadership and vision, the future of tourism in Antigua and Barbuda looks bright, inviting travelers from around the world to experience its stunning beaches, rich culture, and warm hospitality.
