EDGECHEM GROWS WITH NEW LOCATION IN DRAX HALL

EdgeChem Opens New Store in Drax Hall: A Boost for St Ann’s Community

EdgeChem Jamaica Limited is making waves in the bustling Drax Hall community with the grand opening of its 26th store. Located in the Drax Hall C4 complex, this new outlet is set to cater to the growing needs of the Ocho Rios tourist community and nearby residents.

A Convenient Solution for Shoppers

For many locals, the long drive to the Ocho Rios location was a hassle, often resulting in frustrating traffic jams. Doreen Frankson, the founder and executive deputy chairman of EdgeChem, expressed the company’s commitment to accessibility. “We’re a company that brings our products to the people. With Drax Hall quickly becoming the new Ocho Rios, we’ve opened this location to offer greater accessibility and convenience,” she shared in a recent interview with the Jamaica Observer.

Drax Hall: A Rising Commercial Hub

Drax Hall is rapidly evolving into a commercial hotspot, attracting well-known brands like Courts, Starbucks, and KFC. EdgeChem’s new store adds to this vibrant mix, enhancing the shopping experience for residents and tourists alike. The store spans over 1,200 square feet and was developed in just under two and a half weeks, with an investment of approximately $5 million to $6 million.

A Legacy of Growth

Founded in 1991 with just two employees in Olympic Gardens, EdgeChem has come a long way. Today, the company boasts a workforce of over 300 and distributes its products through more than 20 retail stores and 400 hardware outlets across Jamaica and beyond. Frankson emphasized the company’s evolution from a small venture to a significant player in the paint industry, competing with giants like Berger and Sherwin Williams.

Future Plans and Innovations

As EdgeChem aims to expand its market share, Frankson hinted at exciting developments on the horizon. “We have plans for additional store openings and are developing some innovative tools—details to come soon,” she teased. While there’s been speculation about a potential public listing, Frankson clarified, “At the moment, we have no plans to list… we have gone in a different direction.”

Exporting Success

Under the leadership of newly appointed CEO Ockino Ceitre, EdgeChem is not just focusing on local growth. The company is ramping up its export efforts, with branches in the U.S. and exports to countries like St. Martin and Belize. “Export is a key focus for our future growth,” Frankson noted, adding that the research team is actively developing new products to meet market demand.

Looking Ahead

With the Drax Hall store now open, EdgeChem is poised to make a significant impact in St Ann. As Frankson put it, “We’re looking at where the opportunities emerge to grab them.” With a dedicated team and a clear vision, EdgeChem is ready to embrace the future, ensuring that their products are accessible to all.

Will this new store be the catalyst for even more growth in the Drax Hall area? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: EdgeChem is here to stay, bringing quality products closer to the community.
